Less concerned re: knees, Bishop Barres
New York: Take a Knee? Take a Pew….
The Priestly Society of the Holy Cross (aka Opus Die) is an association of Catholic diocesan priests which is integrally united to the Prelature of Opus Dei.
Some Opus Dei members also serve as Bishops in various dioceses throughout the world, including the United States
and John Barres, Bishop of Rockville Centre, New York is a member.
Barres Doesn’t Want anyone to “Take A Knee” or there will be trouble.
The Diocese of Rockville Centre in New York sent out a directive this week warning students against holding any protest during the national anthem.
The NY Diocese said violators would be disciplined on a case-by-case basis.
The reminder comes amid the national debate over NFL players kneeling during the national anthem to call attention to
and to protest myriad police killings of unarmed black people
and numerous other racial and social injustices throughout the United States.
